After the shabby-chic season with its the dove-grey, white and ecru hues was over and the birdcages and lace décor were left behind, it was time to test my skills as a wedding planner in Lake Garda at a vintage and sophisticated elopement.
Yvonne and Alan’s interpretation of ‘vintage’ was exquisitely refined yet very personal.
A Chinese citizen from Hong Kong and a world citizen respectively, the bride and the groom selected a villa of rare beauty and unique atmosphere to organize their wedding on Lake Garda’s largest island, owned by the Cavazza family.
Rich in vintage elements, this villa features one of the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen throughout years of visits as an event and wedding planner in Lake Garda, Como and Maggiore.
Alan and Yvonne’s wedding package to get married in Italy on a hot summer day included ad-hoc gifts for all guests: women received hand-embroidered Chinese fans, while a fragrance was created for men especially for the occasion: all guests wore a vintage allure – but fans also helped with the summer heat!
The bride elegantly carried in one hand a red-rose bouquet recalling the early 1930s.
Old roses (Ocean Song, Lady Moon and – my favorite! – White O’ Hara) also composed the décor, that ranged from vintage pink to pearly hues of white.
Alan and Yvonne’s package for this vintage lake ceremony also featured a band that entertained guests with a jazz and swing repertoire during the aperitif in the Italian-style garden, but no package to get married in Italy or, for that matter, in the world, could include the glorious sunset on the lake we enjoyed! The terrace and overarching loggia were the frame of this perfect day at dinner.
Included in the 360-degree-service, the wedding invitation suite demonstrated an attention to detail only the bride (and wedding planner) can show: printed on coupled watercolor paper, invitations bore the same decorations that appeared on the menus and seating.
The extra notch? Upon their arrival, personalized shoppers were awaiting guests by a buffet of perfumed waters.
An enchanted, lantern-lit path led the way to the party as celebrations continued near the island’s shore.
