Alberto and Christie personalized their Italy wedding package with a special menu and two tenors performing Italian traditional songs.
Shortly after Valentina and Marco’s ‘out-of-the-box’ elopement, I helped Alberto, an Italian living in Ohio, and Christie (from Ohio) customize their oh-so-natural Italy wedding package in Como, Italy.
I had met the groom for a coffee the summer before, while he was in Milan paying a short visit to his parents – a lovely couple with whom I stayed in contact in the planning phase. The result? A communion of nature and tradition: a white and emerald palette blended perfectly with the lakeside landscape, the venue was a stunning Italian villa, and with a vegetarian bride, the menu was carefully planned to suit everyone’s needs. Read on to find out more about the attention to details included in our Italy wedding packages.
Guest Accommodation and Venue: A transport service was arranged between the venue and the Terminus and Posta Design Hotel in the center of Como. While guests chilled out in their luxury accommodations, Christie’s friends and mother helped her prepare to get married by Lake Como in one of the bright, ample rooms of the villa.
The Ceremony: White chairs lined the lakeside meadow as the two tied the knot in Como under the floral arch set for the occasion. Guests enjoyed the sunset and delicious aperitif before moving to the orangery for dinner, where – surprise! – the groom’s father had arranged for two tenors to sing Italian traditional songs, to much of the American audience’s appreciation.
The Dinner: Food is always a memorable “detail”, particularly if you’re getting married in Italy. Menu planning was paramount in the personalization of this US-Italian wedding package because it conciliated the bride’s needs and the guests’ preferences. Among the delicacies served:
• Shrimp tails with smoked potatoes
• Saffron risotto with sliced veal shank ragout
• Beef fillet in Amarone red wine sauce and roasted potatoes with a rosemary and asparagus bouquet.
The Party: The aperitif and after-dinner party were jazzed up by DJ Tony’s re-mix of the couple’s playlist, that was re-interpreted to reflect Christie’s true passion for dance. Their favorites, that featured ‘Ho Hey’, ‘Viva La Vida’, a salsa version of ‘Shape Of You’, and ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’, entertained guests until late night.
