Tying the knot in Italy is, for some couples, a dream to be made into reality at any cost, even though their budget is not exactly large. Their choice is to invest anyway on a good photographer, a marvellous location and, of course, a wedding planner.
It is the case of Stacey and Shane, who contacted me from the United States to help them make their dream come true: getting married in Lake Como.
So, what villa is romantic by definition, perfect for both an elopement and a photoshoot and that is second to no other for its beauty and breath-taking scenarios? Villa del Balbianello, of course; queen of the villas on Lake Como and worldwide famous setting of élite weddings, fashion shootings and movies such as James Bond and Star Wars. Approaching its centuries-old gardens from the lake opens before visitors that grandeur of the past that, added to a 360-degree vista on the lake, makes it the most spectacular wedding location of the area.
In an elopement – I never get tired of repeating it – photographers are crucial: they must be able to create moments, see angles and create different – and never repetitive – situations, because doing the photoshoot of a whole day with two people instead of a large group requires a good deal of fantasy.
So, together with Rochelle Cheever, a talented wedding and elopement photographer – as well as author of a book on the topic – we spent a marvellous day amid photoshoots, lighthearted conversations and laughter in a musical background that accompanied us throughout the event, until the cutting of the cake in Loggia Segrè.
