In my long wedding planner carreer, I had the opportunity to organize a romantic marriage in Milan. A couple of Italians – living in the city – decided to contact me to organize a unique and unforgettable event. The date was set for July 4th, which also allowed me to add an American corner.
As it was summer, the whole event was inspired by the theme of the garden. For this reason, we have chosen Vivaio Riva as the location for the wedding reception, an hidden gem in the city of Milan. We also decided to bring the garden at the church (Basilica San Marco, in the centre of Milan), so we decorated the outside with plants and hydrangeas in wooden baskets, while the interior has been embellished with plants and bamboo along the path that accompanies the bride to the altar. Even the bride’s dress was inspired by the theme of the garden: a sophisticated white dress with horizontal stitching, perfectly matched with rich Caovilla sandals in contrast with a bouquet of garden flowers.
The preparation of the location for the wedding reception was easier, because Vivaio Riva lent itself perfectly to the theme of garden. So we only added small pots with garden flowers, chamomile and olive leaves, and we hung candles everywhere, creating an intimate and romantic atmosphere. Given the couple’s requests, I organized an informal wedding reception: it was rather a party, with buffet food and entertainment for guests.
It was a gorgeous, romantic and dreamy wedding. A riot of garden flowers, perfect outline for the fateful “Yes!”.
