For Giulia and Michele choosing to have their wedding in Sicily was a no-brainer.
A couple of years before the wedding, the couple went to Sicily for a short holiday and on that occasion they visited Scopello and the Tonnara and they went blown away
I couldn’t agree with them more: when you arrive in Scopello it seems to be in a Tornatore’s movie: a breath-taking seascape, towering mountains behind, the remoteness of this old fisherman’s village: there are all perfect ingredients for Giulia and Michele to escape from the hustle and bustle of Dubai and getting married in Tonnara di Scopello.
And was also the perfect setting for their shabby chic intimate destination wedding. A small reception with closest friends and relatives who took part to this catholic ceremony in the garden church of Scopello (ohh yes, a garden church with amazing seaview!) followed by reception at Tonnara di Scopello.
Many planning details made this wedding absolutely unique.
Like a thank you card similar to no one else.
Instead of a pic or a thank you note, the day before we bought postcodes in Scopello, put them in box and guests were asked to fill them with their addresses. During honeymoon, the couple wrote a personalised message to each of them.
Our favorite moment? A flash mob from their friends. It was the fil rouge of all preparation because in every moment and every corner they could, they rehearsed the dance.
We designed a shabby chic Sicily inspired event with burlap, baby breath and local greenery, vintage milk glass vases, food stations with local dialect signs.
We recreated an Italian traditional corner market with different themed stations (Latteria “Milk Shop”, Street Food, Pescheria “Fish shop”, Macelleria “Butcher”) serving Sicilian food with a modern twist. Everything was served in single portions, like finger food, and most of the stations were featuring live cooking.
After the cake, the Italian market turned into themed pastry shop corners (ice creams shop, chocolate shop, granita shop, bar).
Another aspect that we really loved, in the years of hashtags, selfies and Instagram, we created hundreds of small photo suggestions inviting guests to take pictures to all the details of the wedding and to post them on Facebook with their wedding hashtag (#rivercatswedding).
