Exclusive Twenties themed party at Grand Hotel Milan

Last year, watching the ostentatious, sometimes excessive, but undoubtedly magnetic and enchanting images from The Great Gatsby with an excellent Leonardo Di Caprio, we fell in love with the Twenties world: so playful, carefree and festive yet at the same time, elegant and refined.

Fashion certainly didn’t hesitate, drawing inspiration from the lines and accessories that have made the outfits of the time re-emerge as a beloved trend among stars and others, who periodically pull out dresses and hats with a Gatsby influence from their wardrobes.

White Emotion didn’t hesitate either and brought the style of F. S. Fitzgerald’s novel to the world of weddings, proposing decorations, cocktails and music at a highly successful themed evening.

And this is how on 25th February 2014, one of the most exclusive and evocative locations in Milan, the Grand Hotel et de Milan, and White Emotion organised  a themed party, skilfully interpreting the Gatsby style. Of course the wedding sector is full of themed events, but this was truly something that hadn’t been seen in Italy for a long time. Over 400 people took part in the event, including the most important names from the wedding industry, well-known faces but also future brides and grooms.

Everybody was there to drink a toast in the magnificent rooms of the hotel on Via Manzoni: the most famous wedding planners, experts in style and bon ton and many, many more.

The event organised by wedding planner Alessia Santa of White Emotion in collaboration with many prestigious partners, carefully selected form the best in the industry, was a great success.

The elegant setting of the Grand Hotel et de Milan provided the backdrop for wedding dresses in Chantilly lace, georgette and satin plissé created by stylist Alessandra Rinaudo, owner of the Nicole Spose maison, accompanied by Pal Zileri men’s formalwear, luxurious lingerie by Agent Provocateur and precious vintage jewellery by Gioielleria Pennisi.

The beauty corner was left in the capable hands of stylists and make-up artists from Aldo Coppola, while Jo Malone organised an olfactory corner dedicated to brides. The photography and filming that immortalised the old-fashioned evening were handled by the team of famous photographer Carlo Carletti and Marco Schenoni from Nitrato d’Argento.

The floral creations by Rosalba of Spazio Fiori Milano enhanced the beauty of the setting and to make sure the evening went with a bang the Dixieland group and Charleston dancers provided musical entertainment curated by Enrico Martinelli of Ovunquemusica.

Elle Bride was our very special partner, personally curating a brief talk on the latest wedding trends. The event, which started at 18:30, was accompanied by carefully studied cocktails created by the hotel barman around the Twenties theme and the event was wrapped by with a themed cake from the Caruso restaurant.

In short, it was a fantasy event, from which the lucky future brides and grooms in attendance could draw inspiration for elegant and refined ways to say Yes, taking cues from the evening’s atmosphere but also placing themselves in the expert hands of all the people involved in making this Great Gatsby show something which hadnot been seen in Milan for a long, long time.
