Planning a Wedding, the Timeline of a Destination Wedding – PART 1

I receive many requests starting from: when should I start? I just got engaged…. and now? Is there enough time?
Obviously there’s not a strict timeline, rather a guidance to take into consideration when planning a destination wedding.

1 YEAR BEFORE

  • research wedding planner (of course!) plan interview and hire her/him
  • start collecting ideas: Pinterest, Instagram, are great tools, but make sure you have your own line and coherence among the elements you put together
  • pic a few dates, define the max number of guests and agree on a budget

9 MONTHS BEFORE

  • research and hire a photographer and videographer
  • select your wedding gown and bridesmaids
  • invitations: define creativity and print them
  • create a website (if you want to)
  • start working on the documents for the ceremony (if legal or religious) it takes time, so the sooner the better

6 MONTHS BEFORE

  • finalise menu, guest
  • work on music: hire the band or musician, talk to him and start working on your playlist. It is fun if done in advance and in relax!
  • Honeymoon? yes please!!! Start thinking of where you want to go and ask for proposals
  • start locking vendors: venue, caterer, florist
  • shop of wedding rings
  • define pre and post activities: welcome dinner?
  • farewell brunch?

3 MONTHS BEFORE

  • the wedding gown fitting are going well? shop for accessories and jewellery
  • Groom: it is time for your suit too!
  • define transportation for you and for your guests.
  • arrange sitters
  • choose your welcome bags and favors.
