A Canadian love story: he’s a famous pro ice hockey player, and she’s the apple of his eye. These two had their hearts set on an intimate affair with close friends and family by their side to share the celebration of their union.

With a beautiful jute welcome bag featuring mini bottles of Aperol, Limoncello, San Pellegrino and champagne, along with a Lake Como postcard, cookies, chapstick and a hangover kit, the guests were ushered in to a elegant yet informal rehearsal dinner at the Hotel Tremezzo to kick off this special wedding weekend in style.

THE VENUE

For the wedding day celebrations, White Emotion presented Cassandra and Zack with the Villa Giuseppina, a true gem of a venue on the western edge of Lake Como. Built in 1888, this Belle Epoque legendary mansion recently underwent a multi-million dollar refurbishment, making it even more of a coveted choice for royalty, celebrities and other VIPs.

With breathtaking views of the lake, along with a panorama swimming pool, spa, luxury concierge, dedicated wine cellar and more, the Villa Giuseppina was a spectacular choice to capture this Canadians couple’s dream wedding vision.

THE CEREMONY

The couple chose an early evening outdoor ceremony to make most of the stunning Lake Como backdrop and golden hour light. Set up in the magnificent gardens of Villa Giuseppina, which feature a wealth of acacia, gingko, beech and centennial olive trees, we also created a flower arch to adorn the gazebo with more flora and greenery.

With Cassandra’s palette of white and green, we selected white roses, hydrangeas, lisianthus, baby’s breath, bouvardia, and for the accent, echeveria succulents and other seasonal greens. The bride’s bouquet took a rounded, natural shape with an array of the same flowers, finished off with a natural linen tie and stems in full view. Bridesmaids carried a smaller such version in turn. Live music from a pianist and cello player accompanied the beautiful proceedings, which were followed by a boat tour photo shoot for the happy newlyweds while guests made their way to the cocktail hour.

THE RECEPTION

Echoing Cassandra’s wedding bouquet with a selection of white and green florals, we created centerpieces in alternated vases of silver and glass, coupled with gold and crystal vintage candle holders. The table was accordingly set with white and gold cutlery and an ivory-colored ceramic dinnerware collection featuring an intricate, embroidered lace design — handmade in Italy, of course.

For the unforgettable dinner, the couple decided to start their guests off with a fresh octopus salad along with a selection of local cheeses and cold cuts, served with toasted breads, jams and honey. Then, a choice of pasta dishes, before finishing with a delicate beef carpaccio or a splendid line-caught sea bass option for non-meat eaters. Before cutting the cake, an Italian meringue was also served as a sweet palette cleanser. For entertainment during the meal and dancing after, White Emotion provided the couple with a DJ perfectly suited to their tastes.
